ECO BLUE CHALLENGE
Denim production is often criticized as a cotton growing, dyeing, processing and water-intensive industry. As a jeans manufacturer, NISHIE DENIM has been thinking about how to process denim without impacting the global environment. Japan's denim processing technology has been evaluated all over the world. We will continue to challenge to create ECO BLUE JEANS while preserving that technology.
The relationship between NISHIE DENIM and water
NISHIE DENIM's business is supported by water resources and water plays an important role in the production of garments. From the 1960s when we started washing denim, NISHIE DENIM established a water filtration facility to clean the water and return it to nature so that it would benefit the local water. By 2020, we will power up the filtration treatment facility at our head office factory to further thoroughly clean the water. By using recycled water for denim processing, we aim to significantly reduce water intake.
About 60 years ago when NISHIE DENIM has started washing denim, we used water filtration to clean the water so that fish can live safely. Since 2020, we have established a tertiary treatment facility to raise a level that we can user 100% recycled water. From the following water quality analysis results, water from NISHIE DENIM is as the same level as tap water, and depending on the item, the result exceeds the standard value of tap water.
Our commitment in the finishing/processing
NISHIE DENIM has adopted the latest equipment for sustainable denim processing machines. We are also working to prevent the generation of waste that becomes garbage. Since this equipment is also used in overseas factories, it is possible to produce sustainable denim no matter which country produces the products. Although it is possible to significantly reduce the amount of water taken in by simply recycling water, we will also adopt new technology and pursue denim processing that is friendly to the global environment.
ECO STONE
ECO STONE is made from resin which imitates ordinary pumice stone. Different from ordinary pumice stone, there is no emissions at time of stonewash processing because it’s not scraped.
OZONE WASH
The color of indigo is decolorized by the power of ozone. The usage of water and chemicals can be reduced.
NANO BUBBLE WASH
Instead of washing with a large amount of water, make a small amount of water and chemicals into nanobubbles and wash. We call it as “NANOBUBBLE WASH”. This washing method can significantly reduce the amount of water and chemicals. NANOBUBBLE WASH can be used for softness and BIO washing.
